Patterned Hat Project
Advanced Costume Construction: Millinery Techniques
Materials:
Wool broadcloth for exterior and brim, sueded silk charmeuse for lining silk velvet for the trims

This hat is based on the deerstalker style witch hat Professor McGonagall wears to a quidditch game in Harry Potter. Some interesting things to point out are the materials and how they play together, and also the detail needed in grading the seams into the crown. This was patterned based on Bernadette Banner's instructions on her YouTube Channel.

Buckram Hat Project
Advanced Costume Construction: Millinery Techniques
Materials:
Silk velvet for exterior and brim, sueded silk charmeuse for lining, gold lace for the trim, with red beaded decoration
This hat is influenced by Anne of Green Gables and Edwardian fabric boater hats for women. I wanted for it to feel like an older style, but to have some fun bling/flair to it!
Felt Hat Project
Advanced Costume Construction: Millinery Techniques

Materials:
Wool felt capeline for exterior and brim (one piece), gold colored ribbon, leaves and rose gold flowers from Petershams
This hat is inspired by the Beauxbaton witch hats in the Harry Potter film series. I chose to make it out of black felt instead of the blue from the film, and to add some additional decorative components. I also chose not to pull the brim up like they did in the film, but rather allow the brim to wave in its own merry way!
Freestyle Hat
Advanced Costume Construction: Millinery Techniques
Materials:
Wool broadcloth for exterior and brim, sueded silk charmeuse for lining silk velvet for the trims
This hat was made for my friend, Hunter. He wanted to have a fashionable and warm hat he could wear, while also feeling like a Peaky Blinder!
